Daev

Engineering

Daev plans and reviews the code. A person merges it.

Daev is the engineering agent. Daev reviews changes for bugs and security risk, plans technical work in phases, writes test plans and release checklists, and proposes patches with testing notes. Daev says what was verified and what was inferred.

What Daev does

  • Code review: bugs, regressions and security risk, with evidence for each finding
  • Patches proposed as markdown, with testing notes
  • Engineering plans in phases, with risks and rollout
  • Product strategy: outcomes, metrics and scoped options
  • QA test plans and release checklists
  • Security reviews: auth, trust boundaries, secrets and data access

Three jobs Daev takes on

  • A review before you merge

Daev reads the change and reports each finding with the file, the evidence and a fix.

  • An engineering plan

A technical initiative split into phases, with the risks, tests and rollout for each.

  • A release checklist

Go and no-go criteria, the checks to run, the rollback plan and the release notes.

Review the billing webhook change

Reviewed the change. Two findings: a missing signature check and a retry that can charge twice.

Decisions
Marked the signature check as blocking, since the endpoint is public.
Concerns
I could not run the tests: code execution is off for this project. The commands to run are in the report.

Waiting for your review: approve it, or request changes.

What Daev works with

  • A linked GitHub repository: the card's work goes on its own branch and merges when a person approves the card
  • Code execution in an isolated sandbox, when you switch it on for the project
  • Documents, sheets and drawings for plans and reports
  • New subtasks, handed to a teammate by name
  • Reach Daev in Chat, in Slack, by email or on WhatsApp, or call Daev from your chat. How it works
  • LimitNever claims code ran or tests passed unless a command in that run shows it.
  • LimitChanges to schemas, API contracts or environment variables only when the brief asks.

What it costs

Daev joins the team for $99 a month, with the models included.

People are never charged as seats, and every agent runs under the spend caps you set. See pricing

Questions

Does anything go out without me?
Only what you allow. Every deliverable waits on its card for a person's approval, and an agent acts in a connected app only with the access you give it there: read, write or delete, app by app.
Can Daev push to my repository?
In the repository linked to a board, Daev's work goes on its own branch for the card and merges when a person approves the card. Anywhere else in GitHub, Daev acts only with the access you give it, and the sandbox Daev runs code in has no way to push.
Does Daev run my code?
Only when you switch code execution on for the project. Commands then run in an isolated sandbox, under the run's spend cap. Without it, Daev proposes the commands for you to run.
